CONYERS — A man who was carrying two guns and a knife was arrested on drug charges after a deputy found him asleep in his vehicle at a gas station on Ga. Highway 20 South Thursday night.

A deputy with the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office on patrol in the area found Chris Warren Hamilton, 27, of 11663 Hazelbrand Road, Covington, asleep inside a Dodge Ram pickup truck at the Valero gas station after business hours on April 25. According to the deputy’s report, Hamilton had what appeared to be a 9 mm pistol in his lap.

The deputy awakened the suspect and further investigation revealed that he had a Taurus .380 concealed in a holster on his right ankle and a foldout pocket knife in his right pocket. The deputy reported that Hamilton was “very distant and incoherent” and seemed not to know where he was or how he got there.

Two glass pipes were found on the suspect, as well as a small amount of suspected marijuana, according to the incident report. A search of his vehicle revealed a small plastic bag containing suspected crystal methamphetamine.

Hamilton was taken to the Rockdale County Jail and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce, possession of a firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, and possession and use of drug-related objects.
