Comments Off on Craig Charles Benedict, 36, Sentenced To 5 Years For Methamphetamine-Spiked Coffee At His Mother’s Business

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) – A Billings judge has ordered a 36-year-old man to serve five years in state custody after the man pleaded no contest to spiking a coffee maker with methamphetamine at his mother’s business.

Judge Russell Fagg’s sentence Tuesday follows a recommendation from prosecutors and Craig Charles Benedict’s attorney.

Fagg also referred Benedict to a drug treatment program.

The Billings Gazette reports ( Benedict apologized and told the judge he was on drugs at the time and didn’t remember lacing the coffee with the drug.

Benedict worked at the tax business owned by his mother and was reportedly upset that he was asked to take a drug test.

Prosecutors say he spiked the coffee in February 2012. One employee and three customers drank it.

One person reported feeling “funny and unusually jittery.”
