Authorities in eastern Iowa say five people are charged after a morning drug bust, Friday.
Iowa State Patrol officers guarded the suspects in hazmat suits shortly after they were arrested at 7 a.m. in the small town of Dixon.
Investigators say they used a search warrant to get inside and found evidence of a possible meth lab.
Although officers see this kind of activity regularly, this bust was unusual.
“A lot of smaller communities have seen problems with methamphetamine making and really all communities of all sizes have experienced it but when it hits your own back yard, it hits home and is an eye opening experience,” says trooper Jose Varela.
Four men and one woman are charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and are in the Scott County jail.
