The vehicle was being driven by an 18-year-old white, male later identified as Forrest Blake Geffert, of Azle. Rather than stop as required, the driver fled from the scene in his vehicle going northbound on Interstate Highway 35W.

“Officers pursued the suspect, engaging in a vehicle pursuit with the fleeing driver. The pursuit continued north into Tarrant County going east on Alsbury and eventually to Farm-to-Market 1187,” Alvarado Police Lt. Gary Melson said. “The driver continued to evade winding in and out of several other roadways and areas. The vehicle portion of the pursuit ended when the suspect rammed through a fence at a residence and his vehicle became stuck.”

Melson said officers then forcibly removed the driver from the vehicle who was still pressing the gas pedal in attempt to free his vehicle and continued to resist efforts to take him into custody.

After Geffert was secured in a police vehicle, more than 27 grams of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine was located under the driver’s front seat. Geffert was subsequently transported to the Johnson County Jail and booked in on the charges of evading arrest in a vehicle, resisting arrest, manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance 4-200 grams and driving while his license was suspended.
