Comments Off on Lancaster Police Reportedly Find Methamphetamine Lab Inside Home with 7 Kids; Mother of all 7, Sara Sells arrested

LANCASTER — A mother of seven could spend more than a decade behind bars after officers say she was cooking meth in a room where her children sleep.

Officers were executing a search warrant at Sara Sells’ Reese Avenue home Tuesday morning when they say they stumbled on a “shake and bake” methamphetamine manufacturing operation.

Agents with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation came out to remove the lab that they say was currently reacting in a bedroom full of children’s clothing. Officers arrested Sara and Craig Sells, who were inside the home, and charged them with child endangering, illegal manufacturing of drugs and illegal assembly of chemicals.

They also removed three of Sells’ children, who were also inside the house at the time.

State agents say the case is adding to an ongoing epidemic involving meth busts in Ohio. In 2008, slightly more than 100 meth labs were reported to the state. That number jumped to more than 1,000 in 2014.
