A Cottage Grove woman who told authorities it was “probably dope” inside a syringe cap in her purse is charged with felony drug possession.

Prosecutors charged Alexis Jade Hammond, 37, with fifth-degree methamphetamine possession after a sheriff’s deputy made contact with her at a Lake Elmo treatment facility in October 2014.

As Hammond was booked into the Washington County jail for outstanding warrants, authorities found a needle and two syringe caps that contained methamphetamine. Hammond admitted it was “probably dope,” according to the criminal complaint.

Hammond has an initial appearance in Washington County District Court on April 29.
