Comments Off on Raymond Austin Roberts, 38, of Casper, arrested for large amount of Methamphetamine discovered in VHS tapes

(Casper, Wyo.) – Thirty-eight-year-old Raymond Austin Roberts was taken into custody on May 12, 2015 for allegedly possessing a significant amount of methamphetamine, approximately 127 grams, with intent to deliver in Natrona County. He waived his preliminary hearing Thursday and will be bound for District Court in the coming weeks.

At approximately 4:40 pm on the 12th officers from the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and Casper Police department executed a search at Roberts residence following an ongoing investigation, that he was receiving shipments of methamphetamine from Hesperia, California via FedEx, according to court records.

Earlier in the day of May 12, investigators obtained a search warrant to open a package at FedEx that was to be delivered to Robert’s address.

Court documents describe that a DEA Special Agent opened the package and discovered two VHS tapes with three clear plastic sandwich-sized baggies with crystalline rocks concealed inside them. The baggies were extracted from the VHS tapes and weighed, according to the report, the weight was approximately 127 grams of methamphetamine.

Court documents indicate that agents and Casper officers staged an undercover sting to deliver the previously seized package to Robert’s residence. Roberts was located in the back bedroom of the residence with his step-daughter, a small female child.

Roberts stated that about a year ago he moved to Casper from San Bernadino, Cali. Reports indicate that around April or May of 2015 Roberts contacted a friend in California about sending him methamphetamine to sell.

Following an investigation, Roberts was arrested and charged with four counts, possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and two counts of child endangering with drugs.

He is currently being held on a $75,000 cash surety bond and waived his disciplinary hearing today in Circuit Court.
