A 40-year-old woman and a 38-year-old man were arrested and booked at the Fulton County Jail, facing five felony charges for manufacturing methamphetamine.

Investigators said they found 20 pounds of crystal meth, along with the tools to make it and a loaded gun, inside the house.

“We also found about $15,000 of drug money at the location,” Capt. Chris Byers, with the John Creek Police Department, told Channel 2’s Tyisha Fernandes.

Police arrested Mary Jessica Flores, 40, and her boyfriend, Hector Valle-Gomez, 38, during a raid Thursday.   Valle-Gomez

“I don’t even know what they look like at all,” neighbor Jay Schofield said.

Schofield has lived across the street from the couple since they moved into the neighborhood about eight months ago.

Schofield told Fernandes he didn’t know there was an alleged meth operation going on until he saw police and the DEA raid the home.

“We had no idea. I never even knew them honestly. I’ve seen them maybe twice,” Schofield said.

The process of manufacturing methamphetamine has several different stages. Police said the operation wasn’t at the explosive stage.

“When methamphetamine is turned into crystal methamphetamine, it’s not the process where you hear of things exploding, there’s no heat used in that,” Byers said.

Police towed away one of the suspects’ cars because they found a secret compartment in it used for trafficking drugs. MethBust2

“Our canine unit hit on the vehicle so we knew that drugs had been transported in that compartment as well,” Byers said.

Police told Fernandes many residents in Johns Creek enjoy living there because it’s one of the safest cities in Georgia.

But they want people to keep in mind that drugs can make their way into any community.

At last check Flores had bonded out of jail, but her boyfriend is still locked up.
