The man accused of holding a woman captive for more than 40 days in West Salem, and repeatedly beating and raping her with the aid of an accomplice, has a lengthy criminal history.

Ronnie Lee Jr., 46, has been charged with and convicted of various crimes in Oregon over more than two decades and under several names.635816174749117225-IMG-4730

In April 1992, Lee was convicted in Multnomah County of first-degree robbery and second-degree assault. He was sentenced to six months in jail, five years probation and at least 20 hours of anger management counseling.

In August 1992, he was charged with second-degree kidnapping and fourth-degree assault. Those charges were later dropped.

In January 1993, he was charged in Multnomah County with being a felon in possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm. Those charges were dismissed.

Lee was convicted of possession of a controlled substance in 2001 and sentenced to 12 months of probation.

In 2004, Lee was convicted of second-degree assault, attempting to commit a class A felony, coercion and carrying/use of a dangerous weapon — all felony convictions.

In that case, the court noted that “incarceration/probation has not deterred defendant.” Documents also said the court found the crimes to be domestic violence and recommended domestic violence intervention counseling.

Lee was sentenced to 12 years in prison, and given six years’ credit for time served.

Lee was also convicted of criminal drug possession in 1993, 2001 and 2002.

In April 2014, he was convicted of possession of a controlled substance. Six months later, he was convicted of possession of methamphetamine in Polk County.

He is now in the Polk County jail on charges of first-degree kidnapping, six counts of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, five counts of first-degree rape and five counts first-degree sodomy.

Lee was arraigned Tuesday and bail was set at $1.15 million. Lee has pleaded not guilty.
