Etowah County authorities have arrested an Attalla woman for chemical endangerment of a child.

Sheriff Todd Entrekin said Tosha Nicole Kirby, 28, of Attalla, was arrested Tuesday. She is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.tosha-kirbypng-bcbc8f2688c33650

Entrekin said Kirby, while she was pregnant, used methamphetamine and later admitted it to investigators. She tested positive for methamphetamine, barbiturates and opiates, while her newborn baby also test positive for methamphetamine and opiates.

Upon release, Kirby must successfully complete a treatment program.

Etowah County has been very aggressive over the last two years in pursuing chemical endangerment cases.
