Authorities said Wednesday they arrested a Marion mother and daughter on drug and meth charges.


Lt. Chris Taylor of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Cherish Elizabeth Gilliland, 22, of 14 Johnny Banks Drive in Marion, with possession of methamphetamine and possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine.

Taylor also charged Rebecca Gilliland-Moore, 50, of 14 Johnny Banks Drive, with maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance.

On Thursday, Sept. 22, McDowell County sheriff’s deputies and state probation officers searched the Johnny Banks Drive residence shared by the two suspects.

Both women are on probation, which subjects them to warrantless searches.

During the search of the home, authorities found 7.2 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Cherish Gilliland received a $20,000 bond.

Rebecca Gilliand-Moore received a written promise to appear in court.
