Comments Off on Judy Sledge, 55, Arrested After Methamphetamine Pipe Allegedly Found in Emergency Room at Wyoming Medical Center

A woman who was evidently lying in the snow when paramedics arrived and took her to Wyoming Medical Center was arrested early Thursday after police allegedly found a methamphetamine pipe and marijuana on her person.

Judy Sledge, 55, was booked into the Natrona County Detention Center on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

Casper police officers arrived at the Wyoming Medical Center emergency room at roughly 6 a.m. Thursday after a “pipe of some kind” was found in one of the rooms.

Officers spoke with Sledge, who was allegedly showing signs of recent methamphetamine use. Sledge was speaking very quickly, rambling and had major mood swings from happy to bawling and back to happy, according to the affidavit.

Sledge allegedly told officers she used marijuana occasionally, but later admitted to using methamphetamine recently, saying she had “a few” hits off a methamphetamine pipe.

Court documents say that Sledge consented to a search. Officers allegedly found 4.7 grams of marijuana in her purse and a clear glass pipe, which officers reportedly recognized as a methamphetamine pipe, in Sledge’s clothing.

According to the affidavit, Sledge told officers she was at a party Wednesday night where people were smoking a white substance. She allegedly said she took one or two hits from one of the pipes, but didn’t like the drug and stopped.

Sledge allegedly added that a woman named Vicky, who Sledge had never met before, handed Sledge a methamphetamine pipe and asked her to hold onto it. Sledge did not know who Vicky was or what she looked like, according to the affidavit.

Sledge then reportedly told officers that she was kicked out of the house when party-goers tricked her into going to the store. Sledge couldn’t tell officers what she was supposed to get at the store, court documents say.

According to the affidavit, Sledge said people inside the house locked the door and yelled that Sledge “should sleep in the basement with Sledge’s dead husband,” who had been cremated.

Sledge allegedly said she panicked and laid in the snow. She said she was very cold when an ambulance arrived, picked her up and took her to Wyoming Medical Center, according to court documents.

Sledge reportedly told officers she believed the people at the party tried to set her up, adding that she was not a regular methamphetamine user. She allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana occasionally but could not tell officers where she bought her marijuana.

An officer helped Sledge get into dry clothes and, once she was discharged from the hospital, took her to the Natrona County Detention Center without incident.

The glass pipe tested presumptively positive for methamphetamine, according to the affidavit.
