The burglary suspect wanted by the Bossier Sheriff’s Office for attempting to break into a Haughton business
Christmas day now faces additional charges involving drugs.

Matthew Barnes, 22, who resides at the 200 block of Timberline Lane in Princeton, faces additional warrant charges of possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor, and resisting an officer-after he violently jerked away from the deputy and ran from the scene.

The bond on these charges is $20,500. He has a bond of $25,000 for attempting to burglarize Beaty Logging in Haughton, bringing his total bond on all charges to $45,500.

Barnes’ live-in girlfriend, Brittany Fissel, 23, was arrested on Christmas day on similar drug charges after Bossier patrol deputies found marijuana and two glass smoking devices with residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine in plain view in the bedroom of the house on the 200 block of Timberline Ln. where she and Barnes were residing with another couple and their three-year-old son.

 

Detectives with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office need your help locating a man who was caught in the act attempting to burglarize a business on Christmas day.

Matthew Barnes, 22, is wanted for attempting to break into Beaty Logging in the 7000 block of Hwy 80 in Haughton.

Deputies responded shortly after 3:30 p.m. Dec. 25 to a burglary in process at the site.

The owner, who stated he observed a man he later identified as Barnes trying to break into the southeast door of the business.

Barnes ran away and deputies conducted a thorough search of the area using a K-9 search team but they were unable to locate him.

Barnes is described as a white male, standing 5’9” tall, weighing around 160 lbs. with red/brown hair and brown eyes.

A warrant has been issued for Barnes arrest on the charge of Attempted Simple Burglary.  His bond has been set at $25,000.

Investigators believe Barnes is still in the Haughton or Minden area and are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts or this burglary to contact Bossier Crime Stoppers with your anonymous tip at (318) 424-4100.

Meanwhile,  just a few hours prior to this incident, Barnes fled from deputies during a domestic violence investigation involving his live-in girlfriend, Brittany Fissell, 23, and a three-year-old son around 11 a.m. Christmas day.

During that investigation at their home in the 200 block of Lincoln deputies found methamphetamine, marijuana, a smoking pipe and rolling papers all in the presence of the young child.

Fissell, who is also pregnant, was taken into custody and booked into the Bossier Maximum Security Facility where she faces a $16,500 bond.
