A Coldiron woman is facing multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine, after police received a complaint of people allegedly being under the influence at the McDonald’s drive-thru.

Amber Donovan, 44, was arrested on Monday by Harlan City Police Officer George Young.

According to the citation, police received a complaint of persons in the McDonald’s drive-thru possibly being under the influence. When police arrived, Donovan was leaving the drive-thru and was not wearing a seat belt. She stopped the vehicle, which had expired plates from another state. A male then exited the vehicle, but got back in when told to do so by police. Donovan was asked for a driver’s license and proof of insurance which she was unable to provide. A search located a small orange tablet in her purse. A substance Donovan told police was “ice” was also located. She was taken to Harlan ARH Hospital, but refused a blood test.

Donovan was charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), no registration plates, no registration receipt, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance, failure to wear seat belt, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating on a suspended or revoked license, no operator’s-moped license and possession of a controlled substance.

Donovan was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center on a $2,500 full cash bond.
